Call on Mary, Help of Christians, to come to our aid!
Marriage is under attack, yet we do have the means to conquer the enemy. The enemy we have to fight avoids direct confrontation. Instead, it corrodes society from within, eating away at the foundations of our civilisation like a termite.
We cannot just sit back and do nothing.
We need to take action urgently.
In 1571, at the battle of Lepanto, under the guidance of Pope Pius V, the Islamic forces were held back from Europe by the power of the rosary. We today have the same weapon to fight against this major onslaught by the powers of evil against traditional marriage. (It was after this event that Mary first became known as Our Lady Help of Christians).
The Rosary is one of the most powerful prayers of Christians, used many times in need. At the end of the second World War, Austria was occupied by Communist Russia.
An Austrian priest, Pater Petrus, called for a Rosary crusade against the Soviets. He asked for a tithe of ten percent of the Austrian people to say the rosary daily for the Soviets to leave the country.
700,000 people pledged to pray the rosary daily for that intention. Then, on May 13, 1955, the Soviets left the Austria for no apparent reason. Military experts could not explain why they left.
Prayer for Australia
(to be recited at the beginning of each rosary)
Lord, You place deep in our hearts the love of Mary, Help of Christians. Through her prayers grant wisdom to our leaders and integrity to our citizens. Under her protection may Australia be granted harmony, justice and peace. Guard this land of the Southern Cross from threats to undermine the dignity of marriage.
O God, powerful and gentle, You love this southern land and all its peoples, old and new. As the Cross shines in our heavens so may Christ bring light to our nation. As the waves circle our shores so may your mercy enfold us all.
We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
